ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
Besides the gas connection pipeline, the measuring chamber and the regasifier ship, the project does NOT require any other infrastructures or buildings (thus being very different from conventional onshore regasifiers and with a far lower environmental impact).
Gas is not like oil, it does not pollute the marine ecosystem because, if released, it just evaporates.
A particularly interesting aspect is the low cost of restoring the natural conditions prior to the terminal installation. When the plant reaches the end of its scheduled duration, the ship, which is 34 km off the coast, will be definitively disconnected from the buoy and the line and will travel to other parts of the words for a new use. The measuring chamber can be dismantled in a very short time, whereas the pipe can be reclaimed and removed.
Minimal distance for the connection to the transportation network:
- The national gas transport pipeline, to which the natural gas from the Tritone project will be input, runs very close to the coast.
- The proximity of the plant to great consumption centers will allow for an easier transport of natural gas to Central and Northern Italy.
